Here we go ... In order to make this layout first I created all of the layouts in the workshop that Close To My Heart has designed for this special. I looooooooooove those layouts and you will too. Each one seems to work with almost any photos you would choose. To see the directions and the finished layouts click HERE. BUT, today we're taking a look at what else you can make with what is left after your initial layouts are finished.
Here's my layout.
I decided to use a sketch and link up to Sketches in Thyme. I REALLY love challenge blogs.
Here's the sketch.
I love that I was able to use scraps that were already cut in various shapes and sizes. It all came together really fast. Can you tell that my favorite side of the paper is the resist side? I just really love that tone on tone. There's no way you could use this many different colors on a layout if they weren't all subtle like these fundamental papers.
Here's a close up of a little of this and a little of that. Mixing and matching all of the different elements is fun too because once again ... all the colors coordinate.
Are you looking for the journaling to tell this story? It's hiding on a tag that gets tucked away. AND actually, I don't like to show my journaling in "public" because I generally write personal things. In this case I'll be saying something about how awesome the independent nature of this young man is. My son has big plans and his follow through is top notch. Even when other people are watching with questions, he is NOT deterred. These photos are a silly version of that persistence but the concept holds strong. I announced that all that candy couldn't fit in one bowl so of course he made sure that it could.
Thank you for taking a look today. Now it's time to hop over to Kim Hill's Blog. Her layout will surely be inspiring. Make sure to hop through all of the blogs until you get back to where you started.
I'm with ya on loving the resist side of Fundamentals! Fun, fun page Shelly. You're such an inspiration when it comes to scrapping the everyday things and writing about the kids. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteThe glossy resist side is my favorite too. It looks so rich but doesn't take away from the photos being showcased. This layout is terrific -- fun family memory and personality loud and clear!
