RBG Challenge #2 - Mother's Day Key

The creative process rarely seems to be a straight line. BUT I love the twists and turns it takes because if you keep on the path there's always an adventure ahead. Check out my latest journey. It amazes me.

I pulled out my Buzz & Bumble paper intending to make a layout for one of my future kits. I have a couple of ideas in mind, but I wanted to see if anything out there would help me push my ideas to the next level.

So I hopped on Pinterest and didn't see anything using Buzz and Bumble that would work ...  so I started to wander around and I saw this ...

You can get a closer look at www.scrapwithsue.blogspot.com.

When I started trying to make something similar with the Buzz and Bumble papers I couldn't quite figure out the sizes. So I got out my massive stash of scraps to make some sort of prototype. The nice thing about making an example is that it's never a waste of time or materials. (especially when the materials are usually scraps!!) In the end a new layout is available for photos.

The most workable scraps I had on hand were from the Lucy paper pack. When I was deciding which side of the paper to use I noticed the little crowns all over. Which reminded me of this ...
Cricut Challenge
The second Rose Blossom challenge is the Mother's Day Key on the Artiste Cricut cartridge. It's amazing how creative you can be when you're limited. Of course there are no rules that say you can't add other shapes and the products you use are unlimited, BUT I like to stick with ONLY the button being featured. I gave page 74 a good hard stare down and came up with this ...

Will this project ever lead me back to my Buzz and Bumble paper pack??
We shall see.

Pin-spired

If you haven't found something to love about Pinterest, well ... it just doesn't make sense. It can save you a lot of time and money for a variety of hobbies and interests. I'm done buying crafty magazines. Pinterest is soooooooo much better for generating ideas. Check out what I just saw yesterday. This photo isn't from a blog but I really want to show it without knowing who put it up. Jump on my Pinterest page to get a closer look.
My copykatting involves ... you guessed it ... stamps. If you think letter stamps are only for scrapbooking, think again. I could copy this idea all day. With letter stamps it was easier than the wonderful die cutting shown in the sample. Close To My Heart offers oodles of letter stamp sets. The one shown here is called Bohemian Alphabet. Stampaganza is a great time to stock up on letters. You'll save $29.95 by ordering two sets and getting one free.

Pinning with Purpose

This morning I did a little Memorial Day Blog Hoppin'. And I saw this EZ card.

So I did the most creative thing I could do at the moment and I Pinned it to my Pinterest board called "CARDS". Oh boy do I have a lot of beautiful ideas collected. BUT I don't have a pile of cards or scrapbook pages to show for it. Some days that bugs me. So I made the card I pinned the same day I discovered it. Once I got started I realized that this is such an easy design to make four of all at once.

I cut four card shaped pieces (in this case 4.25 x 3.75). Then I cut them all equally. Once I had 4 piles I mixed and matched. Of course I couldn't stick with the original layout so I played with the arrangement. AND here's what I have to show for my 15 minutes on Pinterest ... YAY!!
Flower, button, ribbon, bling ... too easy.

Coordinating embellishments ... popped.

Just some stuff that I had & stickers.
Cut out the birdhouse from scraps.

It's so great to have a basic background design that can be decorated a bajillion different ways. These cards came together quickly as I pulled bits & pieces out of my stash of doo-dads.

So ... taking your pinning to its ultimate level ... CREATE something.
