Happy Accident

Have you ever made a mistake?  That's a rhetorical question.

When you make a mistake how do you recover? That's probably a better question.

When you're paper creating it seems like there aren't any mistakes that can't be overcome. AND sometimes the mistake turns into something better than your original plan. Check out this title ...

Although it's a lovely design, "Mr. & Mrs." looked a little blah to me at first so I tried to go around the edges with my silver metallic marker. AND of course I slipped in a few places, which took blah to yikes. I scribbled over my mistakes because my plan was to start over. BUT the scribbling made me curious so I continued. Now I look like a creative genius (in my opinion). I love all of these scribbled embellishments, which were scary easy to make. These hearts were another mistake. First cut ... too small. Second cut just right ... but I can't toss away any paper. So ... scribble and layer. TADA!!  Another lovely look by mistake.

So ... get out there a screw a few things up!!

This layout is from the CTMH Make It From Your Heart book ... pattern #6, which I affectionately call "illuminate".  The paper pack is called Moonlight. In case you thought it was just for Halloween, look again.

  5. Shelly, you ARE a creative genius! I love the look of the scribbles. I looked at the photo before I read your post and loved the look of it and wondered why I didn't think of something like that :) Love it when mistakes turn into something fabulous!

  6. That turned out really cool. In my art room I call those mistakes "happy accidents". Perfect way to save your title.

  7. I adore these scribbled accents! I have always loved the look of scribbles. I still have a store-bought scribbled heart card from years ago trying to figure out how to make something look that nice, and you have it mastered. Maybe I will get bold enough to try that heart yet, but I am for sure adding the metallic markers to my next order now!
