H - Houndstooth

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop!
For this hop we will be featuring the letter H. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their H element will be featured in their post. If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Amber's blog ~ Scrapper's Therapy.
If you came from Lucy's Blog ... you're on track!

I chose "houndstooth" to represent H this time around. Since I only had enough time to make one card I exploded that pattern all over the place!!!  I'm not sure what to think myself, but I really do want you all to have a "doggone good day".

I also used this week's Color Dare colors ... twilight, pear and buttercup.

Just to make this blog post a little more interesting I looked up "houndstooth" on Wikipedia. I thought it would add a little pizazz. NOPE ... there's no really cool reason why they call it houndstooth. It's just a style of fabric that originated in Scotland. Here's your definition anyway ... Houndstooth, hounds tooth check or hound's tooth (and similar spellings), also known as dogstooth, dogtooth or dog's tooth, is a duotone textile pattern characterized by broken checks or abstract four-pointed shapes, often in black and white, although other colours are used.

  1. I like all the houndstooth! I also like that you put un-houndstoothed flowers in there to break it up a bit. Great job! Thanks for playing along this week at Color My Heart!

  2. What a cute pooch! I am so glad you incorporated the color dare colors. Love the flowers with the off-set "HI." Those flowers are fast becoming one of my favorite shapes, and I love the centers you used! Thanks so much for playing along, AND for the great definition! I was always wondering about that....

  4. Love the houndstooth setting for your CUTE little hound! All that pattern is NOT too much, because you've broken it up with different colours, layers and elements. THanks for linking up to Color My Heart this week! Always fun to see your work.
