RBG Challenge #2 - Mother's Day Key

The creative process rarely seems to be a straight line. BUT I love the twists and turns it takes because if you keep on the path there's always an adventure ahead. Check out my latest journey. It amazes me.

I pulled out my Buzz & Bumble paper intending to make a layout for one of my future kits. I have a couple of ideas in mind, but I wanted to see if anything out there would help me push my ideas to the next level.

So I hopped on Pinterest and didn't see anything using Buzz and Bumble that would work ...  so I started to wander around and I saw this ...

When I started trying to make something similar with the Buzz and Bumble papers I couldn't quite figure out the sizes. So I got out my massive stash of scraps to make some sort of prototype. The nice thing about making an example is that it's never a waste of time or materials. (especially when the materials are usually scraps!!) In the end a new layout is available for photos.

The most workable scraps I had on hand were from the Lucy paper pack. When I was deciding which side of the paper to use I noticed the little crowns all over. Which reminded me of this ...

Cricut Challenge

The second Rose Blossom challenge is the Mother's Day Key on the Artiste Cricut cartridge. It's amazing how creative you can be when you're limited. Of course there are no rules that say you can't add other shapes and the products you use are unlimited, BUT I like to stick with ONLY the button being featured. I gave page 74 a good hard stare down and came up with this ...

 Will this project ever lead me back to my Buzz and Bumble paper pack?? 
We shall see. 

Mission Accomplished

At the beginning of June I set out to feature a different Close To My Heart stamp set every day in honor of Stampaganza. I missed one day ... but I'm ok with it because on some days I featured more than one stamp set. I'm not gonna lie. This wasn't easy. I was tempted to call it quits.  BUT today I'm here to finish strong. I like to think of this last post as the Grand Finale ... like when you go to a fireworks show. I used Remarkable Wreath to make 8 different cards. This is my first time using it. It was fun to try out a variety of combos. AND I used every stamp in the set except the little bow.  I'd rather use real bows.

I used this week's Operation Write Home sketch (with a bit of a diversion on the ribbon - that's how I roll). Since CTMH paper is double sided this was the perfect sketch. I cut a base piece the size of the card & then sliced an inch off of the side and turned it over. The cutting and pasting part of these cards was a snap. I did them all with scraps that I have left from other projects. It seems to me that every card can be made from scraps since the canvas is so small.

The stamping didn't turn out to be mass produced because I was having so much time mixing and matching the colors and the stamps for a wide variety of effects. I really do love how every single wreath turned out. It makes me want to decorate my front door.

Hooray Bouquet

When I saw that the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge would cut out shapes that could then be stamped. First I let out a little "woo hoo" and then I ordered the Hooray Bouquet stamp set.

To make today's cards I used an idea I introduced when I first started this blog. The initial post is right here. It involves using Just One Piece of 12x12 card stock to make 9 cards. I pulled out a piece from the Lucy pack and one from Pemberly.

This final result did NOT involve careful planning. I just cut everything up ... did some stamping ... and did some gluing. It felt pretty "yikes" while I was doing it. 

It's awesome when "yikes" turns into something that makes me smile. Seriously, some days it just seems like these cards make themselves.

Sew What??

Today we're playing with Stitched Together. Every stamp looks like stitching as you can see below. Lots of people are using their sewing machines for paper crafts these days. This is sooooooooo much easier. The set contains 4 shapes (circle, flower, heart and star (not shown here)) PLUS five different stitching patterns.

To make these cards I just took out my paper scraps and started stamping shapes. Everything came together in a snap ... even with cutting out each shape by hand. I thought I'd use up a bunch of scraps, but I barely scratched the surface. These cards were so easy though that I'll definitely be copying myself and making some more. I still want to use the star, but I also want to go to bed : )

Here Come The Cards...

If you've been following the last few days of this blog ... I'm creating with the new Dotty for You paper pack. There are so many possibilities in these 24 pieces of paper. I absolutely love these colors and their seemingly endless combinations.

It's sometimes so hard to know where to start. Instead of running off in a whole bunch of new directions I decided to look backward over what I've made in this past month. During March there was a great event at my house that involved 20 thank you notes of 5 different designs. Instead of re-inventing the wheel I took out the samples from that event and copied using these new papers and some of the same products offered at the card workshop.  The main thing I swapped out was the papers.  I had already done the design work so it was fast to make these new cards.
