For the letter D I'm turning to some recent Studio J creations. We went to Denver! I use Studio J for ALL of our vacation photos now. Why? Because I take so many pictures and I want to include them in some sort of orderly way. So I do things like putting all kinds of similar things together on a layout like ... Denver Dining. Pictures in restaurants are rarely interesting. BUT the memories of being together with a list of places we ate is part of every vacation layout series.

How about Downtown Denver?

Most of my vacations are with my family, but every now and then I have a little getaway by myself. In this case I went to Disneyland so it works for our D hop. Another reason I wanted to feature this layout is because with Studio J it was easy to Duplicate for my two friends. I made one and ordered three. How awesome is that for getting scrapbooking finished in a snap!!

Isn't this an adorable stamp of a cupcake from the Cutie Pie set? Maybe you think C is for cupcake OR Cutie Pie. BUT my C today is actually for Copycat!! Close To My Heart puts together fantastic catalogs full of beautiful products BUT not only that. You can see examples of some great things you can do with the products. I'm not ashamed to lift every idea that I can. Here's my interpretation on one of the layouts in the book. Of course I changed several items. That usually happens when I'm not as skilled as the original designer or I don't have something shown in the picture. In the case of the layout you see below I really wanted to use some of my older paper and products. It's so awesome how current CTMH products can mix it up with older things. That's a fantastic thing about having a large collection. Everything always seems to go together.

My whole A project started with this Adorable Alien. I just knew I wanted use this cute little guy. He's part of a new stamp set called Love Ya Silly. I'm going to be teaching a few people about stamp kissing this month. SO, of course I had to try it out. 

What happens when these two different stamps "smooch"?

These are fun results so I put this guy on a spin card. 

You have to see how fun these cards are in real life. The circle in the center spins around. I'm always a little confounded by how to write on these so this time I came up with a solution. I used a Designer Creations Bag with a Picture My Life card inside.

Can you believe this???? A full year of posting about the letters of the alphabet about twice a month. AND this Just One Piece blog never missed a single one! That's an accomplishment of major proportion for me. I'm so thankful for this blog hop to keep me on my toes every couple of weeks. This will be my final post with the ABCs. You can check out all of the other letters by clicking on the label ABC to the right.

OK … so Z is for a lot of things. No, really it is. For this blogger Z stands for Zebra.

I've been wanting to do two different things since I got my Close To My Heart Artbooking Cricut Cartridge. First I've been wanting to make a card out of a scrapbooking overlay cut. AND second I've been wanting to use this cool zebra pattern. So… that's what I have for you. The zebra scrapbooking cut made into a card. I'm not saying this is a Valentine, since we're barely past Christmas. BUT it's definitely a love card.

Here's the question … Do you cut the overlay out of white and put on a black background??

OR do you cut it out in black and lay it on a white background??

I truly can't decide!! What do you think?

Y - Yellow

It seems like yellow is an under appreciated color. Letter Y to the rescue … kinda. Here's a little something made with a bit of yellow. Buttercup yellow to be exact. Of course yellow goes great with every color. Orange is a natural companion along with lots of shades of blue. I love how the paper at the bottom of this card uses gray. If it wasn't the Christmas season I'd pull out a variety of combinations just to show you that you NEED more yellow in your life. Unfortunately while you read this I'm at the mall OR in the kitchen doing everything I know how to do to make this the best Christmas ever!!!

Of course there aren't very many words that actually start with an X. AND anyone who has followed the ABC Blog Hop would probably guess that somehow I'd work in something with paper scraps one last time before the alphabet is over! So, X is for XTRAS.

I love paper scraps. It's possible that I like them even more than brand new sheets of paper. There's something a little intimidating about a full piece because as my tagline says … it's so full of possibility. I can't decide which idea to go with. BUT a scrap is more limited by it's size and shape. For some reason that really helps me.  Less is more.

So, the other day I accidentally made this …

I'm not kidding. I pulled out a paper pack called Laughing Lola to create an adorable layout or two for my Mission Accomplished club. Hmmm … if you look at the layout theres a strip of pinkish purple (technically called "Laughing Lola Purple"). That's the only piece of paper from the pack! I can't tell you exactly what happened after that, but all of these other scraps seemed to be vying for Lola's attention. Before you know it EVERYONE was included. That's what happens when you're a joyful sort like Lola. Everyone wants to join in.

Washi Tape … it's everywhere these days. People are still asking, "What is it?". The very most straight forward answer … "it's TAPE". That's about as complicated as it gets. It's not necessarily tape for holding things together. BUT you can decorate almost anything with it!! It's NOT just for paper projects.

Here's a great definition I found online " … washi tape is decorative Japanese tape that crafters are completely OBSESSED with. It also has a magic power that makes everything it’s stuck to the most adorable thing in the world."

Of course Close To My Heart is on board with several designs that are our very own. Here are a couple of Christmas tag projects I've made with CTMH Washi!!

The stripes you see across this tag are just tape!! Cute AND oh so easy. No paper to trim exactly the right size. Just tear of the tape and apply. If it's not exactly straight you can pull it up and try again.

Can you find the Washi here? It's right around the edges so it actually looks like pretty paper. It's shiny silver even though that isn't easy to see in a picture.

V - Vacation

I love family vacations. Did you know that you can scrapbook your vacation while you're still enjoying it? My family tends to fill the days with fun and then slow down at night. Once we get to that point it's easy to spend my down time uploading photos from the day to Studio J and then start creating. My vacation scrapbook is the most current book because the whole thing is done in Studio J. If I was ever going to say that I'm "caught up" in my scrapbooks … this is the book I'd be referring to. 

You can play with Studio J anywhere and at any time for FREEEEEE. Once you have something you like your can order your layouts. They come right to your house all finished and ready to go. Then all you have to do is slip them in page protectors when they arrive. It's just that easy!!

U - Uff Da!!!

Uff Da ... if you want to know about that little expression just click on it and you'll have more information than you ever wanted to know from Wikipedia. Where I'm from no one needs a definition of this. In fact, I asked my daughter (17), "What's an expression you say when you're exasperated"? I was looking for a teenage term to compare it to. Guess what she said? "Uff Da"! And here I thought it was age specific.

You might say uff da when you're excited too. Like, "Uff Da, I have lefse in one hand and krumkakke in the other!!" (see photo at right) That's a Scandinavian dream come true. 

Speaking of Scandinavian, have you seen the Close To My Heart Stamp of the Month for October?? It's called Scandinavian Wishes ... adorable. On the card below I stamped the deer, the border and the word joy with that very set. It's not too early to start putting together a few Christmas cards. You can use these stamps for more than just Christmas. BUT it is that time of the year. I'm not ready to go full scale red and green, but I love getting started with this adorable set. There's also a heart, a bird, a tag, an ornament and more.

T - Ten, Twenty, Thirty

For the letter T we're going to take a look at what you can do TEN minutes at a time. YES ... I used a stop watch and each of these steps really only took ten minutes to accomplish. If you added the time it took me to make up my mind ... well that's the time consuming part of any activity. So when I say ten minutes it was all action.

 

Here's what I started with ... some pictures, the new Sparkle and Shine Paper Pack and a layout idea from the Magic Pattern Book.

 

 

After I cut up the paper and glued it down I had the layout below. If you have the Magic book you'll notice that I made the layout upside down. I love that about Close To My Heart patterns, they're very flexible. For ten minutes of time this is a pretty fantastic layout.

With my next ten minutes of time (that's where the twenty comes from) I took out the Dimensional Elements that co-ordinate with this paper pack. Take a look at the difference a few doo dads make. I love how they filled in the space to the left.

With the next ten minutes I brought out the bling and a little bakers twine. Bling always adds the best finishing touches. You'll see some CTMH Sparkles and Silver Shimmer Trim. Plus I used the bakers twine from the Ruby Mini Medley Pack.

S is for EVERYTHING

S is for Everything!! In the world of paper creating you can't turn around without running into an S word. That actually turned into a problem. Of course I wanted to make the ultimate something to show you but I had soooooo many options. In the end I ran out of time and made this card. 

 

 

 

S is for Speedy ... when you run out of time you have to work fast!
S is for Spray Pen ... all of that splatter was added to this entirely card stock card with one of my favorite go to items. Two little spritzes and done. Check it out HERE.
S is for Sweet Leaf ... that's the name of the color green in this card.
S is for Scallop Border Punch ... just got the new scallop punch from Close To My Heart. This could become another go to item!! Check it out HERE.
S is for Stamp ... of course I stamped the sentiment and some of the flowers.
S is for Special ... I stamped with this month's CTMH special stamp set called You Are My Happy. It's a triple set with sooooo much more than what you see here. It's only $10 too. Go HERE to find out more.
S is for Simple ... in order to be speedy you gotta keep it simple. I limited myself to ONLY pink flowers in just one shape. You can probably tell there was no real rhyme or reason to how they're attached. You can call the Scattered.
S is for Sparkle ... you can never go wrong with a little bling of some sort. The sparkly gems in the center of the flowers add some great texture. They're a great value. Pick up a pack HERE.
S is for Scraps ... no 12x12 pieces of cardstock were harmed in the creation of this card.
S is for Silver ... that little "smile" flower was the initial inspiration for this card. This is another great new CTMH product. Check it out HERE. You get a dozen adorable little charms in the pack.

R - RED

Welcome to the Everything ABC's Blog Hop! For this hop we will be featuring the letter R. This may be the name

R is for RED ... in this case specifically RUBY, which is a Close To My Heart color.

Once again I put my crazy haphazard method of creating in place. It seems to me that red goes with EVERY other color. A pop of red ALWAYS works. OK ... I might be a little too positive about that, but I love red. In order to prove my theory I took out a full package of the Ruby Mini Medleys from Close To My Heart. My goal was to empty the package! I can always buy another one. I nearly did it BUT those mini medley packs are full of more things than you think!!! Here are the cards I made. Did any of these color combos surprise you?

NOTE ... my haphazard method it not really a method. It's truly haphazard. I take scraps of this and pieces of that and stamp sets that are within my reach. A flurry of activity follows and before you know it a card is made. I don't follow a sketch or design. It's kind of like how first graders create, uninhibited. The results always vary. I don't always love all the results but I love the method. NO RULES!

Red and Sorbet
Sorbet is a dark peachy CTMH color. I don't prefer this color, but here's the proof that with a pop of red even Sorbet looks good! The flower is from the Mini Medley pack.

Red, Black, Gold
It took longer for the glue to dry under that cute little red clothespin than it did to make this card.  If this card gets in the hands of a scrapbooker she can take the sentiment off and attach it to a page! The clothespin & corduroy buttons are from the Mini Medley pack. There are still leftovers of both.

EVERY kind of Brown goes with Red.
I think is my favorite card from the process. It all happened so fast AND it turned out!! You can't really see the sparkly Ruby buttons here, but they're truly wonderful. I have leftovers but I'm not sad about it.

Red and Purple anyone???
Here you have a fully purple card with two tiny red accents.  I wish you could see how fun and sparkly this is in real life. The doily is sprinkled with Prisma glitter (and now so is most of my house) AND the bakers twine has a string of silver that shines. Of course I have lots more!

Red and Green of course. It's not just for Christmas people.
The sentiment says "Your laughter makes my heart smile".  Isn't that sweet? Here you see the glittery buttons again. AND I took apart the big flower. It turns out there are four corduroy fabric flowers glued together. I almost like them better flattened out. It makes the card more mailable. 

After the mayhem ... There were a couple of pieces left on my table from the projects above after I put most everything away. (I don't work in a craft room so I have to put away all kinds of separate boxes so my family doesn't have to look at the mess. And trust me it's a GINORMOUS mess.) I didn't want to take each piece to it's designated area so ... I made another card ... FAST! AND I did manage to use up the corduroy flowers in the Mind Medley pack.

In case you're wondering what happened to some of the other colors in the rainbow ... everyone knows red goes with blue! Pink & orange are kind of a slam dunk too since they both have red in them!
